The Client

Ball N' Chain Brewing Co. are a startup micro brewing company located on the Central Coast. 

The Project

Noticing the tremendous amounts of waste that are created by the alcohol industry, Ball N' Chain Brewing Co. is looking to combine waste reduction with good beer. They wanted to develop a small, personal brand that worked with beer lovers to quench their thirst and do better by the environment.

The Process
The Solution

The final result is a punchy, stark and memorable logo, accompanied by a brand that is willing to break outside of what 'beer' traditionally is. We applied creative strategy and design, suggestions for marketing support social and recommendations for overall brand strategy in their communications.

Using hand-drawn type for the main logo, a simple colour palette of black and white, and the idea of breaking out of your bonds with the 'broken chain' symbolism, Ball N' Chain now had a brand ready to turn some heads and make an impact.

After initiating a brief discovery session it became apparent that the owner wanted to develop a brand that was eye-catching, unique and youthful. 
 

We explored the imagery and icons that are more common in youth culture, as well as bright colours to attract attention from a younger market that might be more responsive to the values of recycling.

Most of all, they wanted to break out of the thinking that homebrew or microbrewing was something only for people in their 50's and that good tasting beer could be trendy as well.
